Who this is for

Most people arrive here for one of three reasons.

  • Something has already happened, and they need a place to process it.
  • They are aware that something will happen eventually and want to prepare for it.
  • Or they lead a team, and grief just showed up at work, with no map for handling it.

All three are the same problem seen from a different angle: we don't get enough practice talking about death, so when it arrives, we're unprepared.

Why OMDB exists

Grief, loss, and death remain one of the biggest taboos in our society. Although they affect everyone, we rarely find real opportunities and spaces to talk about them openly — even less so at the workplace. The fear of hurting someone by saying the wrong thing, or by speaking about the unspeakable, but also the fear of our own feelings, often keeps us from addressing the elephant in the room. And in doing that, we miss what's probably the most promising opportunity for lessening the burden of those very same fears: sharing about grief, loss, and death openly can free us from suppressed or stuck emotions and help us process them in a healthy way.

Providing safe spaces where this can happen is our mission at OMDB. We believe that addressing the elephant in the room can help us meet death and grief — as well as life — in a more honest and empowered way. This matters especially at the workplace, where grief, loss, and death are often treated as private matters to be kept separate from the work environment — something we don't think is healthy, or even actually works. It's only by bringing feelings and thoughts to the surface, instead of burying them, that we can build a healthy relationship with them. And that's what we're here to help you do.

What we offer

Workshops

We develop and facilitate tailored workshops to address grief, loss, and death. By providing a safe space, we give participants the opportunity to process personal experiences with grief, or to learn how to help others in grief.

Trainings

In our trainings, we share our knowledge, experience, and unique approach to grief, death, and loss — empowering leadership teams to become allies for grieving team members, and helping HR professionals hold space for people experiencing grief or loss at work.

Consulting

We can't isolate grief and loss from the workplace, because they're already there. We help organizations create a work environment that's grief-sensitive, and provide the best possible support for employees experiencing grief or loss.

Beyond Fear: a 12-week program for your relationship with death itself

The challenge to confront mortality is one that every human being must address, sooner or later. Beyond Fear is the perfect place to do so in a safe and supported setting. This structured program guides you through some of life's most fundamental topics, offering six group sessions, six peer reflection circles, and the space to sit with the questions most of us avoid.

What our clients say

Catalina Veneziano portrait
"Patrick has done a fantastic job in creating a safe space for us to explore such sensitive topics - fear, mortality, grief. It was done with care and grace, but also with firm, professional guidance in setting up the activities and clarifying the participants' expectations. Patrick's expertise on the topic came through in the brilliant yet concise content, punctuated by his personal stories and experiences. This is a very well-designed program; the unexpected benefit of participating was that I learned more about facilitation and learning than I had in a while."

"OMDB provides a unique community to discover and learn more about such a human experience that is so often covered up. I left each meetup feeling lighter and most times having fun. This seems contradictory since the subject is death but that is the beauty of Patrick and Cori's unique approach."

"I cannot recommend OMDB enough. Patrick and Cori delivered workshops and grief sessions for us, as well as sharing advice on the grief process on our company podcast. The way our employees were supported and shown care for has truly made a difference to how participants processed their grief. Patrick and Cori provided a safe space for people to breathe, process and talk when they needed to. They also gave everyone the opportunity to take the time they needed as individuals, showing how everyone's journey is different. I am so grateful for their kindness, their understanding and the way they really listened and delivered on what we needed. Every company can benefit from the services of OMDB."

"Patrick and Cori have created a space for a topic that is often pushed aside in our daily lives but ultimately affects us all: death and loss. The conversations we had touched me deeply at times. However, this space isn't solely for grief. It's also comforting to come together as a group, to remember loved ones, and to cherish the moments we shared with them."

"I didn't know what to expect from BEYOND FEAR - a course on grief and death seemed like a hard sell. My experience couldn't have been more different. Through gentle, supportive, and expert guidance, we examined our relationship to death but in the spirit of life and living. There was reverence for grief but there was also joy and connection, which made the serious topics more manageable. The program changed my relationship to death and grief in ways that helped me understand and make sense of this universal human experience. Yes, you might need courage to commit to this kind of program, but it is crafted with so much care, passion, and lived experience that the journey is rewarding."

"Patrick's incredible voice and Cori's effervescent energy make this course a symphony of insight and inspiration. The well-measured insights and perfectly paced exercises create a safe space to explore and share, making even the most challenging topics feel approachable. This course is a must for anyone looking to dive deep and emerge with newfound clarity and confidence!"

Meet the founders

Cori Moore, black and white portrait, co-founder of OMDB Patrick Liebl, black and white portrait, co-founder of OMDB

Hi, we're Cori and Patrick. Next to our passion for creating innovative formats and facilitating conversations, workshops, and trainings, we also share something else: we're both fascinated — while at the same time pretty scared — about death. But we're convinced there's a lot to learn from death, and from how we decide to confront it. That's why we founded OverMyDeadBody (OMDB) — a (virtual) meeting place where we hold space for grief and loss, for people and organizations who seek learnings about life, personal growth, and relationships by talking openly about death and everything that comes with it.

Cori Moore is a psychologist with a background in suicide and self-harm prevention research and grief app development. Patrick Liebl is a certified end-of-life companion (end-of-life doula), grief educator and facilitator. Since 2020, we have hosted more than 30 community meet-ups and workshops, led 3 Beyond Fear cohorts, conducted roughly 30 one-on-one coaching sessions, and developed a multi-format workplace partnership with Babbel about grief at the workplace.

Frequently asked questions

Is OMDB therapy?

+

No. OMDB is grief education and facilitation, not clinical therapy or counseling. We create structured spaces for talking about death, loss, and grief openly — through workshops, trainings, and the Beyond Fear program. If you need clinical mental health support, we'll help you find it; we're not a substitute for it.

Who is OMDB for?

+

Anyone navigating grief, loss, or the fear of death — as an individual — and organizations whose teams are affected by it, which is every organization eventually. We work with people processing a specific loss, people anticipating one, and HR teams and managers who need practical skills for supporting grieving colleagues.

What's the difference between a workshop and the Beyond Fear program?

+

Workshops are shorter and often tied to a specific need — a team, an event, a particular kind of loss. Beyond Fear is a 12-week program for anyone ready to work on their broader relationship with mortality, not just a single loss.

Do I need to have experienced a recent loss to join?

+

No. Some people come to OMDB after a loss; others come because a fear of death has been present for years, without a single triggering event. Both are valid reasons to start.

What's the difference between grief education and grief therapy?

+

Grief therapy is clinical treatment, usually one-on-one, aimed at complicated or prolonged grief. Grief education — what OMDB offers — is structured, facilitated support for normal grief and mortality-related fear, in a group or program format. Many people use both; one isn't a replacement for the other.

Does OMDB work with organizations outside Berlin?

+

Beyond Fear is a fully online program, open to anyone regardless of location. Workshops, trainings, and consulting are generally offered both in person and online, so location isn't a hard barrier — get in touch to talk through what makes sense for your team.
