Beyond Fear: Transforming Your Relationship to Death & Life
A 12-Week Online Program
Beyond Fear is an online program centered on self-exploration and honest conversation about death and mortality. It's about facing one of life's most important questions, despite the fear that can come with it. Six live group sessions, six reflection circles (small peer groups), and guided exercises in between lead you through a journey of self-discovery and self-exploration. The program is for anyone ready to face the subject of mortality.
Is this for you?
Are you ready to engage in one of life's most profound topics?
This is a 12-week online learning journey designed to help you explore — and transform — your relationship with death and mortality. It's built for anyone curious, open, and willing to engage with the often-avoided, yet inevitable, subject of death, and with the fear that can come with it.
If part of you is thinking, "I have been waiting for this!", while another part is saying, "Absolutely not. I am terrified" — you've come to the right place. We don't expect you to join this program without fear; we invite you to join it in spite of it. Stepping beyond that fear can help you uncover personal insight and a deeper understanding of life and your place within it. This journey is as much about living fully as it is about facing death.
Over six bi-weekly virtual group sessions, six virtual peer sessions (reflection circles), and intersession assignments, you'll do deep, reflective work — both on your own and within a supportive community of people asking the same questions. Guided by personal journal-style worksheets, the program gives you the tools, insight, and compassionate space to confront what the philosopher Montaigne called "the fear that guides all others."
If you're looking for something less structured first, our workshops and Death Anxiety guide are good places to start.
What you can expect
- Safe space — an intimate, confidential space where all emotions, fears, and thoughts about death (and death anxiety) are welcomed and respected.
- Profound exercises, practices & conversations — well-facilitated exercises that can lead to profound insights and transformative shifts.
- Deep connection — build intimate bonds with your cohort as you exchange personal insights and reflections in a safe, supportive environment.
- A personal journal of the experience — worksheets that help you document your reflections, capture insights, and engage with thought-provoking prompts.
- Intersession assignments — individual and group tasks designed to deepen your learning between sessions.
This journey is not just about understanding death; it's about discovering how that understanding can profoundly enrich your life. If you have any questions, or would like a free 1-on-1 call to talk about the program before committing, write to talk@omdb.life.
Curriculum
Exploring Your Personal Relationship with Death
After meeting your fellow travellers, the journey begins with your own personal narratives and beliefs surrounding death. Through guided reflections and discussions, you'll unpack the fears, anxieties, and cultural conditioning around mortality that shaped how you learned to think about it in the first place.
Grounding & Resources
It's crucial to ground yourself, gather the right resources, and cultivate self-compassion before continuing the exploration of death. You'll discover practices and ideas that strengthen resilience, so you can navigate the profound emotions and challenges of this transformative process.
Exploring Grief
Death and grief are deeply interconnected — but grief is much more than just a reaction to death. You'll explore what grief actually is, your own experiences with it, and how grief can help change your relationship to death and death anxiety.
Befriending Our Fear of Death
Our fear of death often shapes our lives and choices more than we realize. Through guided reflection and practical exercises, you'll learn to acknowledge, understand, and transform that fear — so it becomes a source of insight rather than an obstacle.
Embracing Mortality
Acknowledging and accepting mortality as a natural part of life can have a profound impact. You'll explore how to shift from a fear-driven avoidance of death to a more open, mindful acceptance of it — learning to transform fear into a motivator for living fully, rather than something that diminishes life.
Integration & Meaning
Conclude the journey by integrating what you've learned and embracing life with a renewed perspective — living authentically, aligned with your values, and carrying the wisdom of this journey into the rest of your life.

Who's guiding you
Hi, we are Cori and Patrick. Next to our passion for creating innovative formats and facilitating conversations, workshops, and trainings, we also share something else: we are both fascinated, while at the same time pretty scared, about death. But we are convinced that there is also a lot to learn from death and how we decide to confront it. That is why we founded OverMyDeadBody (OMDB) — a (virtual) meeting place where we hold space for grief and loss, and for people and organizations who seek learnings about life, personal growth, and relationships by talking openly about death and everything that comes with it.
Cori Moore is a psychologist with a background in suicide and self-harm prevention research and grief app development. Patrick Liebl is a certified end-of-life companion (doula) who volunteers at a hospice in Berlin. Together they've spent over a decade facilitating conversations about death, grief, and mortality — this program is the accumulation of that work, not a first attempt at it.

Frequently asked questions
What is death anxiety, and how does this program address it?
Death anxiety is the fear or dread that comes with thinking about mortality — yours or someone else's. Beyond Fear addresses it through sustained practice and honest conversation over 12 weeks, not a single exposure or a quick fix. For more on what death anxiety actually is, see our Death Anxiety guide.
Is Beyond Fear therapy?
No. Beyond Fear is grief and death education, not clinical therapy. It's facilitated, structured, and goes deep — but it isn't a substitute for mental health treatment. If you're currently in crisis or need clinical support, we'll help you find the right resource instead.
Do I need any prior experience with this kind of work?
No. The program is built to meet you where you are, whether or not you've done therapy, meditation, or grief work before, not to assume a starting point.
How are sessions delivered?
All group sessions and peer reflection circles take place live on Zoom — this is a real-time, facilitated program, not pre-recorded content you work through alone.
How do I sign up?
The next cohort starts February 1st, 2027 — see the full schedule above. Tickets are purchased through Eventbrite, or you can write to talk@omdb.life directly to ask a question or reserve your place.
