Cori Moore & Patrick Liebl
Cori Moore and Patrick Liebl co-founded OMDB in 2020. Cori is a psychologist with a background in suicide-prevention research and grief app development; Patrick is a certified end-of-life companion (end-of-life doula), grief educator and facilitator. Together they've spent over a decade facilitating conversations about death, loss, and grief.
Cori Moore
Psychologist · Co-founder, OMDB
It's known as society's biggest taboo, but in Cori's experience, given the right space, speaking about death really opens people up — and brings a surprising amount of joy to those doing the sharing.
Death has been part of her work for years now: from her bachelor's dissertation on suicide and self-harm prevention, to running game-based funeral-design workshops with British pensioners, to co-developing a grief app. It might sound bleak from the outside. In practice, Cori has found nothing quite as uplifting or life-affirming as facilitating these intimate, honest conversations.
She and Patrick founded OverMyDeadBody in 2020, initially as a community initiative to open up space for grief, death, and loss. What surprised them both was how quickly strangers — meeting only in a virtual space — formed strong bonds and had candid conversations they'd rarely had anywhere else. Since then, they've broadened the scope to include Grief in the Workplace trainings, coaching, and structured learning journeys, drawing on more than ten years of seminars, workshops, and projects.

Patrick Liebl
Certified End-of-Life Companion (End-of-Life Doula) · Grief Educator · Co-founder, OMDB
Death has been a constant presence in Patrick's life since childhood, though for a long time he rarely spoke about it. It wasn't until he became interested in narrative work that he understood how essential it is to actually discuss and integrate difficult experiences — like death and grief — into our own stories, instead of carrying them silently.
That realization is what led him to partner with Cori and start building spaces for open, honest conversations about death and grief. He is a certified end-of-life companion (end-of-life doula) and has trained in grief work, Authentic Presence, and contemplative practice. To deepen that work further, he volunteers at a hospice in Berlin, offering presence and support to people in their final days.
Much of what Patrick has learned draws on Buddhist tradition, which informs his approach without making it dogmatic. Nothing he offers is an obligation — every practice is an invitation, meant to be taken up on each person's own terms.

Frequently asked questions
What is an end-of-life doula, or end-of-life companion?
An end-of-life doula, or end-of-life companion, is someone trained to offer non-medical support to people who are dying and the people close to them — practical presence, emotional support, and help navigating the final stretch of life. Patrick trained as an end-of-life companion through Ricam Hospice and volunteers in that role at a hospice in Berlin.
What are Cori and Patrick's qualifications?
Cori is a psychologist whose background includes research on suicide and self-harm prevention and the co-development of a grief-support app. Patrick is a certified end-of-life companion (end-of-life doula) through Ricam Hospice, a certified grief educator trained by David Kessler, and has completed additional training in Authentic Presence, somatic coaching, and contemplative end-of-life care.
Is OMDB a therapy service?
No. Cori and Patrick offer grief education and facilitation, not clinical therapy or counseling. If you need clinical mental health support, they'll help point you toward it — OMDB's programs are a complement to that, not a replacement.
Is an end-of-life doula the same as hospice care?
No, though the two work alongside each other. Hospice is medical care — physician oversight, nursing, medication, social work — for people with a terminal diagnosis. An end-of-life doula, like Patrick, provides the non-medical, human side: presence, emotional support, and help navigating what's happening, alongside hospice rather than instead of it.
